Janet McBeen
I first became fascinated with drawing with wire about 12 years ago. I began playing around with wire that my husband had in his shop. The more I played, the more fun I had. Then my imagination was ignited and I was seduced. Wire is an interesting medium that often has a mind of it’s own. You want it to twist one way, but it doesn’t always comply. It took me a lot of experimenting before I felt confident that I was the one in control. One of my favorite things about drawing with wire is the duplicate shadow that is created when light shines on it. It gives me the sense that the drawing is echoing back to me.
