The intentional utilization of the elements of art and principles of design guide me in the development of my compositions.."
I am an impressionistic oil painter who loves creating beautiful images of the human figure. My classical training has informed my emerging interest in modern painting. I am exploring ways of representing the human figure that extend beyond recording the model in front of me. The intentional utilization of the elements of art and principles of design guide me in the development of my compositions.

I often begin a project by painting from a live model. Then I spend a lot of time observing the painting until additional ideas begin to emerge in my thinking. I give myself time to discover both conceptual and technical additions that contribute ever more complex layers of interest and beauty to the artwork. The final image takes time to unfold as I live with the painting throughout different stages of development. Sometimes I photograph the model and then develop the concept and composition in my sketchbook. Of utmost importance is maintaining the look of fresh paint application and vibrant color.

For me art is about love, truth, and beauty. I am committed to nurturing relationships through art making, and exploring imagery that elicits a deeper connection with self and others.
